David Wernick has been working in the fitness industry for more than 20 years and has experience in corporate fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, older adult fitness, fitness center management, and personal training. David has worked primarily with mature adults for the past 12 years as a fitness center director, group exercise leader and personal trainer. In its first full year of operations in 2001, the wellness program David managed in New Jersey was awarded the third place prize in the NuStep Pinnacle Award Program given to the top retirement community wellness programs in the U.S. He was the co-author the following year of a successful grant application from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to initiate a campus-wide walking program. David taught college courses at Mercer County Community College in New Jersey for two years, and he has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Dayton since 2006, where he has taught a class in EKG interpretation. More recently, David has served as a consultant for retirement communities across the U.S., helping them design wellness programs and fitness facilities.

He has earned certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength David graduated magna cum laude from Springfield College (MA) in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health/Fitness and from San Diego State University in 1990 with a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. and Conditioning Specialist and the American Council on Exercise as a Clinical Exercise Specialist. David is a member of the International Council on Active Aging. His main areas of professional interest and expertise are exercise and aging, balance and mobility testing and training, strength training, and core training.

David’s favorite physical activities include running, biking, strength training, and softball.
